Being Alive, a non-profit organization for those affected by HIV/AIDS, has launched a new campaign dubbed “Step Up” to help sustain its growth in San Diego amid possible closure concerns due to operational obligations. The “Step Up” campaign is made possible by support of local San Diego physicians who can contribute to the organization by matching donated funds.
The current campaign goal is $75,000.
Other local businesses are introducing fundraising programs at their locations to help sustain the organization. Being Alive is also collaborating with several complimentary services to join forces in order to reduce the financial burden of operating the facility solely.
“Funding for HIV/AIDS support services has been dwindling for years and most agencies provide many other services apart from HIV/AIDS (they are not HIV/AIDS exclusive) which allows them to apply to multiple funding sources,” said Shannon Wagner, Executive Director of Being Alive. “We see over 8,000 clients a year. We know how desperately needed these ‘non-government funded’ programs are and we are committed to keeping them alive, for the clients of Being Alive!”
Being Alive will not close if fundraising efforts are successful.
