Bourbon Street in University Heights will host Mama’s Kitchen’s 17th annual Wine Tasting event, presented by Revivals, Thursday, Aug. 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. Proceeds go directly to the daily operations of Mama’s Kitchen, the only non-profit in San Diego that prepares and delivers three meals a day, seven days a week, at no charge to men, women and children affected by AIDS/HIV or cancer. Partygoers will experience eclectic wine tastings with pours throughout the evening, while enjoying a sumptuous selection of hors d’oeuvres.
“Given the continued increased demand for our services, our annual Wine Tasting is an important event for Mama’s Kitchen,” says Alberto Cortés, executive director, Mama’s Kitchen. “The proceeds allow us to continue to provide life-sustaining nutrition to our neighbors battling AIDS or cancer. We are grateful to everyone who supports this wonderful event, helping us to provide responsive and meaningful services to our community.”
In addition to wine and food, event highlights include a “Lucky Ticket” silent auction featuring gift packages from some of San Diego’s premiere dining and entertainment venues, as well as Mama’s Kitchen’s two popular “Wine & Spirits Deck” drawings.
Revivals, located in Hillcrest, will be a presenting sponsor of this year’s wine tasting fundraiser.
“Short of a cure, I believe we are winning the battle against HIV,” said David Brinkman, CEO, Desert AIDS Project (DAP). “It’s been recently proven that people who begin taking the correct medications soon after being infected with HIV are 96 percent less likely to spread the virus to others. Just as DAP is providing care for those with HIV and working to greatly decrease the spread of the virus in Palm Springs, we so admire the similar work that Mama’s Kitchen is doing in the San Diego area.”
Pre-sale tickets are available for $60, and tickets sold at the door are $70. Bourbon Street is located at 4612 Park Blvd., San Diego 92116. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit mamaskitchen.org or call 619-233-6262.
