The death of Donald A. Perry, Chick-Fil-A executive, has sparked an influx of Twitter responses linking his passing to the company’s recent controversies surrounding sex marriage.
Perry passed away of a heart attack July 27.
“Don was a member of our Chick-fil-A family for nearly 29 years,” the company wrote. “He was a well-respected and well-liked media executive in the Atlanta and University of Georgia communities, and we will all miss him.”
The death garnered heated response on Twitter following announcement of the company’s anti-gay position. In the interview with the Baptist Press, Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy said he’s “guilty as charged” when it comes to the eatery’s “support of the traditional family.”
“Okay, Chick-fil-A protesters, you win,” wrote one user. “You killed their head of PR. They’re for gay marriage now.”
@MichaelBerrySho “Chick-fil-a PR guy of 29 years died of sudden heart attack today…. The left basically killed him.”
@adanGond “Opposing same-sex marriage killed Don Perry… Or maybe it was embarrassment?”
@tim_mik “oh jeez, now the gays killed a Chick-fil a exec!”
