San Diego is a very unique and desirable city for many reasons. One of the most obvious reasons is the amazing weather that we have here. In fact, San Diego has one of the best climates in the world year round. This is very evident when you watch the weather reports from the rest of the world. We have no snow in the winter and no humidity in the summer. The average temperature in the metropolitan area and much of San Diego is 71 degrees. In addition, there are many other wonderful attributes about San Diego; like its location on the beautiful Pacific Ocean; the amazing history and other major attractions that draw people to our amazing city. San Diego is like a magnet that continues to bring people to this very special place in the world.
Vacation is one reason why people come to San Diego, and it continues to be one of the most popular travel destinations in the nation. But it is not just Americans who come to San Diego for a vacation. We also attract people from all over the world who want to bask in our delectable weather and experience all that we have to offer. Tourism is still one of San Diego’s major industries, and combined with business travel and conventions, it generates an estimated three billion dollars a year. One example of a major convention is the Comic-Con international convention that was held recently, bringing more than 130,000 visitors to our downtown convention center. Needless to say, we as a city benefit greatly from all the money that is spent by conventioneers and other visitors, when they are in town. But it is not just visitors who are attracted to San Diego for a short stay. Because San Diego is such a desirable city, we also attract people who want to relocate here, both on a part-time or full-time basis.
San Diego is still a top consideration for people when they want to have a second home. San Diego provides a place for those who want to escape the bad weather conditions from all over the nation and beyond. Whether it is to escape from horrible cold winter weather or from the brutal summer heat and humidity that many cities have, people can enjoy San Diego’s amazing weather all year round.
In addition, San Diego continues to be a popular city for people to move to permanently. I continue to do a lot of relocations from in and outside the country. And when people move here, they are always happy they made the decision to do so. A recent example of relocation is a great couple who just moved here from Kansas City, Mo. They had the goal to move to San Diego for many reasons. One of the biggest reasons was to enjoy the incredible weather and the outdoor lifestyle that San Diego has to offer. But also, being a gay couple, they wanted to be in a city where they would feel more comfortable and be warmly embraced by their community. They made their goal a reality by buying a home here. They are now able to live happily ever after in their new San Diego home in Hillcrest. This wonderful couple will be a great new addition to San Diego because they are both very special and beautiful individuals.
San Diego continues to be a great big magnet that pulls people here for vacation, business trips, and relocation as full-time residents. We are all very fortunate to live in such an incredible city.
