Girl, 16, beaten by men in homophobic attack

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A 16-year-old girl is recovering from a broken jaw, lost teeth and scrapes and bruises after being viciously attacked by two men in Louisville.

The unnamed girl was reportedly walking to a shop with two younger boys when they were approached by four adults. Two men in the group began to shout homophobic abuse at the girl before attacking her.

Brenda Hickerson, a friend of the family described the girl as a “strong lesbian young girl” and told NBC News, “She was on the ground with blood just pouring out of her face. These grown men put her on the ground, kicked her in her stomach, kicked her in her face and punched her in the face and kept going until a bystander yelled stop and called 911.”

One of the boys accompanying the girl suffered a concussion trying to help her.

The attack is being investigated by the police.
