To celebrate Pride, The Hillcrest Wind Ensemble (HWE) is presenting Cabaret Pride at the Mississippi Room of the Lafayette Hotel, 2223 El Cajon Blvd., Saturday, July 21. The event will feature show tunes, Americana works, as well as music with LGBT overtones. A special Sound Of Music costume contest and sing-a-long will also be featured. Jazz vocalist Andrea Sperling, will perform a classic Gershwin number as well as a special Pride piece. Complimentary hors d’œuvres will be served at 6:30 p.m. with the concert beginning at 7 p.m. The event will be presented with cabaret-style seating reminiscent of the 1940s.
