New attractions at The Fleet

The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, in Balboa Park, presents two new attractions for July.

Showing at the IMAX is Deep Sea, which will take audiences deep below the ocean surface to swim with some of the most exotic creatures on the planet, from the bizarre Rainbow Nudibranch to the Giant Pacific Octopus. Deep Sea will present audiences with views of the tremendous diversity of marine life illustrating the importance of interrelationships between animals.

Saturday, July 7, The Fleet and the Global Association of Gross and Messy Education (GAG-ME) invites children 6-14 to participate in the GrossOlympics, in celebration of the newest hands-on science exhibition, Grossology: The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body. Contests include the smelliest sneakers, the loudest burp and long distance spitting, with prizes for the winners.

Participants may sign up on the day of the event only, one hour prior to each contest. Space is limited so early arrival is recommended.
