June is LGBT Pride month, as proclaimed by both city and national officials; and San Diego LGBT Weekly wants to know who is your LGBT Pride star. Send us the name of someone you know who lives, owns a business, or works (volunteer work counts) in San Diego who you think deserves to be recognized for service to the LGBT community. Your nominee can be an LGBT person, or a straight person who is an active ally of our community.
Tell us why you think your nominee deserves recognition. Does she do service work for LGBT youth? Does he donate his time and talent teaching homeless LGBT families how to access resources? Does she give of her time and labor as a volunteer for seniors in the LGBT community? Maybe you know someone who works to educate other communities about tolerance and acceptance of ours; or maybe you have a friend who started a nonprofit that helps hospice care centers do their job.
Whatever the case; LGBT Weekly would like to honor your local LGBT Pride star in our June 28 issue. One nominee will be chosen to receive a prize package, including promotional copies of CDs from various house, disco, techno, hip-hop and indie artists. The names of all legitimate nominees will appear either in print or on our Web site (or both). Email the name of your nominee to editor@lgbtweekly.jeffjungblut.com with the words “LGBT PRIDE STAR 2012” in the subject line of the email. Submissions must be received by June 24 at midnight.
