BCSD closes its season on a turbulent note

Gay San Diego
J.S. Bach

Bach Collegium San Diego (BCSD), San Diego’s only early music ensemble, will close its ninth season with a program of music by two important 16th-century composers, Palestrina and Byrd, reflecting the turbulent years of the Protestant Reformation in Europe.

The performances, called Heresy! Greetings from Rome & Canterbury will be Friday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. at St. James by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in La Jolla, and Saturday, June 2, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Pacific Beach.

The program will feature the 16-voice chorus of the Bach Collegium San Diego (most from San Diego) singing an entirely a cappella program.

Each concert will be preceded at 6:45 p.m. by a round-table discussion between selected performers and audience members, providing an opportunity to discuss the various topics related to the forthcoming concert.

Tickets to individual concerts are $25 or $40. For more information and to purchase tickets please visit bachcollegiumsd.org.
