Big Mike’s Sports Rub finished off an undefeated season by beating Baja Betty’s in the title game. The Closing Party was held at Pecs and was very well attended. The following awards were announced during the party:

Best Big Man: Tommy Miles

Best 6th Man: Samantha Raymer

GQ Award: Tommy Miles

Million-Dollar Move, 10-Cent Finish Award: A.C. Carter and Sergio Villegas (tie)

All-Stars: Eric Reissner, Tee Price, Rob Simmons, Jay Irby, A.C. Carter

Defensive Player of the Year: Rob Simmons

Most Valuable Player: A.C. Carter

Jeremy Parrish Spirit Award: Sereeta Jones

It was announced that the 2012-2013 board of officers will compromise of:

Commissioner: Jeff Praught (1-year term with position becoming a 2-year term during March 2013 elections)

Asst. Commissioner: David “Mona” Valenzuela (2-year term)

Treasurer: Jeff Hammond (2-year term)

Secretary: Patrick Schoettler

PR/Marketing/Community Outreach Coordinator: Fernando “Junior” Buendia

The board offered special thanks to Sergio Villegas and John Crockett for their contributions to the 2011-2012 season as officers.

Coady Roundball Classic

The deadline for team registration is Friday, March 30 for the Coady Roundball Classic,

the biggest LGBT basketball tournament in the country, There are A, B, and C divisions. Visit ngbaus.com/crc/index.html for more information.

 

Volunteer Opportunity – U.S. Police and Fire Championships

Cheli Mohamed is coordinating volunteers for the United States Police and Fire Championships, happening this coming June. They are expecting to draw between 5,000 to 6,000 police and fire competitors participating in more than 55 sports and 70 venues through-out the County of San Diego.
Basketball will be played from Sunday, June 17 – Saturday, June 23 at Alliant University. The league has sent out a call for volunteers, with the purpose of bringing the LGBT community and law enforcement together in putting on this event. Anyone interested, should email cheli@cpaf.org.
