VIDEO: Gay Marines share homecoming kiss: ‘Love is Love’

Gay partners Sgt. Brandon Morgan and Dalan Wells have come forward to comment on their homecoming photo that has swept the internet.

In an interview with the Miami Herald, the couple explains their relationship.

“I honestly knew I was in love with him from the first moment I met him,” Morgan says, adding that before he came out he had made “a lot of mistakes,” including marrying a woman. During Morgan‘s six months in Afghanistan, “there was nonstop letter writing every day.” Wells, an oil painter in Oahu, says that when Morgan first asked him out, he said no. “I didn’t know he much he loved me and how much I was in love with him,” Wells says. The men say they plan to work with the gay military group Outserve.

“Gay, straight, lesbian, no matter who you are – love is love,” said Sgt. Brandon Morgan. “We haven’t fought for more rights or better rights than others, we fought for equal rights.”

“The only reason I would even be doing something so crazy is [for equal rights.]” said partner Dalan Wells. “If this is one kid who says look at this guy… he joined the Marine Corps… his life is great… then,  maybe that would him the courage.”

  1. Well done Marine! I’m a 59 year old straight, married father of three living in Salt Lake City, one of the most conservative regions in the country, and I couldn’t be happier for these two men. Someday people will come to understand that love isn’t about gender and will grant our fellow Americans ALL the rights and respect they deserve.
