VIDEO: Ellen DeGeneres responds to anti-gay group ‘One Million Moms’

Funny gal Ellen DeGeneres has some words for ‘One Million Moms,’ the anti-gay group who rallied for her removal as JC Penney spokesperson. TV’s daytime queen addressed the group in Wednesday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

“Good news for marriage equality in California yesterday!” she begins. “Yesterday an appeals court ruled that Prop. 8 was unconstitutional. Now, I’m sure the people who oppose it will try to appeal it, but it’s a step in the right direction.”

DeGeneres adds:  “Normally I try not to pay attention to my haters, but this time, I’d like to talk about it because my haters are my motivators. For those of you just tuning in for the first time, it’s true, I’m gay,” she said, crowd laughing. “I hope you were sitting down. I hate to break it to you this way.”

“They wanted to get me fired, and I’m happy to say JC Penney stuck by their decision to make me their spokesperson.” The crowd erupts in applause. “It’s great news for me because I needed some new crew socks.”

DeGeneres continues to explain that the group is still protesting  her new post at JC Penney. One Million Moms posted another anti-gay dig on Facebook, explaining, “By jumping on the pro-gay bandwagon, JC Penney is attempting to gain a new target market,” the group states. “In the process [they] will lose customers with traditional values that have been faithful to them over all these years.”

DeGeneres thanked her supporters and guests for their support. Among the traditional values she supports like honesty, compassion, and helping those in need, she reminded everybody, “I believe in dance!”
