The rich, famous, and not so rich-and-famous are celebrating the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that has declared Proposition 8 as an unconstitutional measure against gays and lesbians who wish to marry in the state of California. The cast of Modern Family – the ABC sitcom that features one of the most popular fictional gay couples – were one of the first to post their support for the demise of the measure with a photo reading, “How could you not want to see us tie the knot?”
Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet, who play gay partners Mitch and Cam on the show, lit up Twitter with responses in support of their union. As to whether or not the couple will tie the knot on the show still remains speculation – although fans are rallying in support of a wedding episode.
Modern Family has been a beloved show for LGBT activists and allies alike and has garnered five Emmy’s since the show’s began in 2009.
