Tracy Morgan felt the heat last year after he went on an anti-gay tirade during a stand-up comedy routine, later apologizing to the LGBT community, dubbed as the “rainbow tour of remorse.” But in his latest “rant,” Morgan and GLAAD are both in on the joke.
In character as Tracy Jordan (the celeb Morgan plays on 30 Rock), the scene is relived as Jordan replays the homophobic rant in Thursday’s episode as part of a comedy sketch.
Liz Lemon (Tina Fey), Tracy Jordan’s boss on 30 Rock, condemns him and says, “You’re a public figure and, believe it or not, the dumb things you say may influence or hurt people.”
The mindless Jordan mistakenly apologizes to Glad trash bags, not GLAAD, in an attempt to do well by those hurt by the anti-gay comments. “I thought it was hilarious,” said GLAAD Senior Director of Programs Herndon Graddick. “We’ve been called worse than trash bag manufacturers and forward to seeing the second part next week.”
