Brahms and Schumann: A love in common
Johannes Brahms opened his Third Symphony with three notes, which stood for “Free but Happy!” It had been a long road for the 50-year-old bachelor. Long gone were the days of his conflicted love for Clara Schumann. But Clara was never far from his thoughts. He sent this symphony as a gift to her, and when she played it, she said it seemed like one great beat of his heart!

Musubu
The Japanese Friendship Garden Society of San Diego is hosting Musubu , featuring the eclectic and elegant works of four up-and-coming Japanese artists: Eiko Kita, Chiyoko Kumon, Toshio Rokusawa and Masao Watanabe. This exhibit will be their first debut collaboration in the United States. Musubu in Japanese means “to tie,” but it can also mean “to connect.” The artists’ designs embody this word through their use of integrated material and through the relationships that are formed through their artwork.

The Family Stone
The Family Stone original founding members Jerry Martini, Cynthia Robinson and Greg Errico are Rock and Roll Hall of fame inductees, and R&B Pioneer Award winners. Jerry Martini is the original founder of Sly & the Family Stone; calling upon Sly Stone to become the leader of the first inter-racial, multi-gender major American Band.
