The original photo snapped by Alfred Eisenstaedt is of two strangers. Eisenstaedt explains that every sailor “running along the street grabbing any and every girl in sight” when the photo was taken. Fast forward 66 years: The photo snapped in 2011 is a tender reminder to servicemembers across the United States that sexual orientation transcends military bounds and that love is, truly, limitless.
