Babette’s feast

It’s that time again; time to haul out the holly and the Dolly and the Cher and the Celine and a sleigh full of sequins and heels for A Very Babette Christmas. It’s Babette’s 18th outing, this time at Urban Mo’s. There will be two shows this season. The first, Friday, Dec. 16 (8-10 p.m.) features a cast that includes Chad Michaels, Ladonna Monroe, Paris Sukomi Max and Kiki Nixon. Advance tickets are available at the Babette Schwartz store but seating is first come. The second show is Friday, Dec. 23 with a different cast.

Supertasty at Dynamite

Sometimes I know exactly what I am getting myself into. Therefore I know exactly what I am suggesting you get yourself into. But sometimes I don’t; like now. But sometimes an event sounds totally right, sight unseen. The first Supertasty Funk Show at Bar Dynamite down at the bottom of W. Washington is one such example. Someone named Peach will be “bringing the booty.” There is a $5 cover for the 45 minute set which will include original funk/soul music. Show Peach the love, spread the word and tell me all about it.Thursday, Dec. 15, 8 p.m., $5.

Stale sex and fractured skulls

Full disclosure: I am an artist which means that on occasion I will be my own subject matter. If you are interested in meeting me and greeting me then stop by Double Break gallery and gift store on Fifth Avenue (near The SRO Lounge) Friday night. The occasion is a book launch. I will be reading Emoticon, a short story about stale sex with an anonymous hook up that is included in The Frozen Moment, an anthology that will be published next week. I will also be reading from The Silence Machine, a non-fiction novel in progress about weird love, vivid memories and a fractured skull. I would love to see you there. Friday, Dec. 16, 6-10 p.m. (reading 7:30-8 p.m.), free, doublebreakstore.com.
