British singer George Michael has been admitted to hospital suffering from pneumonia. The 48-year-old singer has cancelled a number of appearances on his Symphonica tour while he is being treated.
Michael’s publicist Connie Filippello said in a statement that he had been “diagnosed with pneumonia and he is currently receiving treatment.”
The UK Independent reported that he was being treated in Vienna’s AKH hospital.
A statement on his official Web site simply stated, “George was recently forced to postpone tour dates in Vienna and Strasbourg under doctor’s orders after being diagnosed with pneumonia. He is currently receiving treatment. Plans to reschedule these postponed tour dates will be provided when available.”
In October, a viral infection caused Michael to pull out of a show at the Royal Albert Hall in London, following advice from doctors.
Earlier this month, Michael performed for Sir Elton John’s Aids Foundation at the Royal Opera House in London.
