San Diego Thanksgiving Dixieland Jazz Festival

The San Diego Thanksgiving Dixieland Jazz Festival is a favorite of festival-goers from around the globe. All venues are conveniently located in the Town and Country Convention Center. There are large concert rooms with double dance floors and small, intimate “listening” rooms. All are non-smoking. The Festival bands represent a wide variety of traditional jazz, dixieland and swing styles. The Festival offers something for every taste in classic jazz.

La Jolla Playhouse presents this ground-breaking rock opera, which reinvented musical theater for the modern age, telling the story of the last week of Christ’s life. The zeal with which Christ’s followers are hailing him as the Son of God becomes a source of dismay to his disciple Judas Iscariot. Fearing that this tide of religious fervor will provoke brutal repression by the occupying Romans, Judas must make his fateful choice between faith and betrayal.

Mexican Modern Painting

The Andrés Blaisten Collection is one of the premiere collections of 20th-century Mexican art. Assembled over the last 25 years, the collection normally resides at its permanent home at the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco. This exhibition features a selection of 80 paintings dated between 1907 and 1962 from this renowned collection as part of a traveling tour of the Blaisten Collection. The exhibited artists include well-known painters María Izquierdo, Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Rufino Tamayo, and many others.
