The California Reserve Peace Officers Association (CRPOA) has announced their unanimous endorsement of Bonnie Dumanis for mayor of San Diego. The CRPOA represents more than 6,000 sworn peace officers statewide. The association was founded in 1974 for the purpose of “raising the professional, educational and employment standards of reserve peace officers.”
Announcing its endorsement, CRPOA released a statement that said, “Bonnie Dumanis is our choice for mayor of San Diego. Her leadership skills at the district attorney’s office, her proven fairness with labor organizations and her unwavering support for crime victims and law enforcement, reinforces our decision.”
As a member of the CRPOA, I can assure you that we never voted or even contacted regarding this endorsement, so the nomination could not be “unanimous”. She may be the right person for the job, but thought you’d like to know the association didn’t vote.
