As LGBT History Month draws to a close this weekend, Equality Forum reminds activists, allies and members of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community to celebrate Lilli Vicenz, Virginia Wolf and Pedro Zamora for their efforts in support of LGBT rights and recognition.
Lilli Vincenz, a gay rights pioneer and the designated LGBT icon for Saturday, October 29th, has been a staunch public supporter of LGBT civil rights since 1965 and a key player in laying the groundwork for gay rights activism in America today.
Celebrated author Virginia Woolf, the LGBT History Month icon for Sunday, October 30th, published nine novels and close to 500 essays during her career, all while championing innovations in gender equality that remain relevant throughout today’s efforts for universal human rights.
On Monday, October 31st, Equality Forum recognizes AIDS activist and former “Real World” star Pedro Zamora for bringing attention and youth awareness to HIV/AIDS and issues affecting the LGBT community.
