SWANSEA, Wales – A Welsh nightclub has been accused of ejecting a gay couple for allegedly sharing a quick kiss.
Two men were enjoying a night out at Reflex nightclub in Swansea when they were ejected by club security for “a quick peck on the lips.” Club security gave the reason for the ejection as “other customers didn’t like it.”
Confirming the incident, a witness who wished to remain anonymous, told PinkNews,
“I find it truly disgusting that in 2011 two people can be thrown out for an innocent quick peck on the lips, yet it could be seen around the club many straight people acting a lot worse.”
He added, “I overheard the doorman saying ‘people don’t like it’ which to me suggests heavily that the main reason for them being thrown out is homophobia.”
PinkNews also reported that another customer, Sherrie Deacon, said she heard the doorman say, “I do not care. I will not have this in my club.”
Deacon, who described the kiss as a “simple peck on the lips”, has set up a petition calling for Reflex to apologize.
The nightclub denied the men were ejected, although it admitted that a couple had been told to stop being “overly amorous”.
