San Diego LGBT Weekly announced that it won 5 awards at the San Diego Press Club Awards held on October 25, 2011. The 38th annual Excellence in Journalism Awards honored the best work produced in print, online and in the broadcast media in San Diego.
San Diego LGBT Weekly, and its companion website LGBTweekly.com, competed in the Non-Daily Newspaper Category. The publication received the following awards:

“This is an outstanding and historic achievement for an LGBT publication in San Diego, no other LGBT publication has achieved such recognition,” said publiser Stampp Corbin. San Diego LGBT Weekly’s preview issue was distributed on October 27, 2011, the first “real” issue was published on November 11, 2011. Corbin continued “We could not ask for a better birthday present. These awards really honor the quality of our staff and publication.”
