Nearly 77 percent of Americans report having a friend who is gay or lesbian according to a poll at CBS News, so it comes as no surprise that a new sitcom has been born from the commonality: My Best Friend is a Lesbo is NBC’s latest TV show in development to combine comedy, lesbianism, and friendship in what hopes to be television’s next big thing.
Spearheaded by feature writers Randi Barnes and Sascha Rothchild, this latest LGBT-friendly comedy will revolve around two female friends, one of which is a lesbian, both aiming to help each other through “life, love, and dating,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.
With the backdrop city of none other than Los Angeles, the show will be partly semi-autobiographical as both Barnes and Rothchild are real-life friends sharing a similar background as the show’s plot.
Barnes has previously co-written the animated feature Dorothy of Oz; as a creative consultant, Rothchild is working on multiple movie projects including Who Invited Her at DreamWorks starring Reese Witherspoon.
