Dance, comedy and music will be on display Saturday, Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. when the San Diego LGBT Community Center’s Young Professionals Council program presents the Center Stage event at the Birch North Park Theatre.
Jeff Gelder is emceeing the event and all proceeds will go to support the center’s programs and services.
The acts, which are all local to San Diego, will feature musical performances, dance and comedy, and include: indie/rock/pop band Raven’s Grace, singer/songwriter Lacy Younger, Encore Vocal Ensemble, Unity Dance, Grace Towers, Sarah Burford, Drama Club Dropouts and Jiavani Linayao.
The live entertainment will be complimented by samplings of drinks and food from local eateries. A free cocktail comes with the price of each ticket; the recipient must be 21.
The YPC program maintains its focus on advancing the Center’s twin goals of promoting LGBT health and human rights by “fostering a culture of service, leadership and camaraderie among LGBT San Diegans under 40.”
Center Stage is a fundraising event that was planned and executed by the YPC and is intended to “highlight different kinds of local talent in a fun atmosphere where there is something for everybody.”
The Center Stage event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, between 7 and 11 p.m. at the Birch North Park Theatre at 2891 University Ave.
Tickets will cost $25 online (centerstagesandiego.com) and $35 at the door, and will include a free cocktail and appetizers.
