With a story spanning the entire twentieth century, Leonard Bernstein, one of America’s greatest musicians, broke through every artistic ceiling possible to become the world’s musical ambassador. Conductor, composer, pianist, author, teacher, librettist, television star … for Leonard Bernstein, boundaries simply did not exist. The great Blood, Sweat & Tears
One of the greatest horn bands in the history of pop music, Blood, Sweat & Tears, have left their mark on the American music scene since 1968. Paintings by Chia-Shang Cheng: Millet of Taiwan
The San Diego Chinese Historical Museum presents a new exhibit, Paintings by Chia-Shang Cheng: Millet of Taiwan. Cheng is a watercolor artist whose work is widely renowned in Taiwan and East Asia. His paintings of the Taiwanese countryside provide a unique opportunity for San Diego’s diverse community to become acquainted with the rural landscapes and farmers’ lives of Taiwan. His realistic portrayal of these pastoral themes has inspired comparisons with the 19th century French painter, Jean-François Millet.
