The Greater San Diego Business Association (GSDBA) has opened the call for LGBT college scholarship applicants seeking funds for the upcoming school year.
Thanks to successful fundraising efforts during this year’s 10th Annual Hillcrest Mardi Gras Street Party, the GSDBA Charitable Fund is pleased to offer over $17,000 in awards to local LGBT students and active community allies pursuing higher education.
GSDBA officials have expressed their gratitude to the Mardi Gras event’s invaluable sponsors, including Absolut Vodka, Viejas Casino, Bud Light, Jagermiester and the California Bank & Trust.
Stampp Corbin, GSDBA Charitable Foundation president, said that it is “an honor” for the organization “to be able to distribute all of the proceeds to deserving San Diego LGBT college students.” Corbin added that the foundation is entirely volunteer-run and thus free of overhead costs beyond reserves for next year’s Mardi Gras event, scheduled for February 21, 2012.
Applications for the GSDBA Charitable Foundation scholarships are due by August 31, 2011. For more information and qualification criteria, visit www.GSDBAFoundation.com.
