After taking heat in recent months for making derogatory anti-gay comments on Twitter, Chris Brown is back in the spotlight for similar behavior; but despite multiple media reports detailing the incident, Brown insists that the story, published in mid-July, is completely false.

According to E! Online, Brown’s publicity rep denied reports that the singer hurled homophobic slurs at fellow players during a pick-up basketball game. The rep explained that Brown was filming a music video in West Hollywood on the day of the purported incident, and that the Star magazine report that broke the story was “totally fictitious.”

The Star story suggests that Chris Brown reacted to frustration during the alleged pick-up game by saying, “That’s gay!” and referring to a fellow player as a “f—-t a–!” Brown’s rep protested that the photo accompanying the article – depicting Brown in an argument with another player – was taken back in March and in no way constituted evidence corroborating the Star story.

“Chris Brown’s management is considering taking appropriate legal action against the paper,” the singer’s rep concluded. “We stand behind our client and want to set the record straight that this did not happen.”
