The San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus (SDGMC) presents GuyTunes, featuring the best of the boy bands from the ’60s through today on Saturday, July 30 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, July 31 at 3 p.m. Both performances are at the historic Balboa Theatre in downtown San Diego.
The high-energy song and dance production features more than 100 hit songs made famous by award-winning guy groups over the last five decades. The concert is grouped into thematic medleys of songs such as Powerhouses, California Boys, Boys in Twos, Brit Boys, R&B and The New Breed, among others.
“The Chorus will sing a wide variety of tunes that are sure to bring back fond memories for audience members,” said SDGMC Artistic Director Gary Holt. “These are chart-topping songs from artists like Franki Valli and The Four Seasons, The Beatles and the Four Tops in the ‘60s all the way through the decades of Doobie Brothers, Bee Gees and Backstreet Boys right up to today’s Jonas Brothers. This concert offers something for everyone.”
Tickets for the Saturday evening performance are $30-$43; tickets for the Sunday matinee performance are $26-$38. A $5 discount is available for seniors, students, military and groups of 10 or more. The historic Balboa Theatre is located at 868 Fourth Ave. at E Street in downtown San Diego. Three hours of free parking is available with validation at adjacent Horton Plaza.
