Hit show Glee is to lose three of its main characters after the third series. Rachel, played by Lea Michele, Finn, played by Cory Monteith and gay character Kurt, played by Chris Colfer, will graduate from the school.
Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy said, “You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic, or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate at the end of their senior year.”
Murphy continued, “Both Colfer and Michele think the plan is a good idea. They trust the writing and trust me, and felt that it would be great to have an open and closed experience for them to go out while they were on top.”
Murphy said more characters are set to leave at the end of the series. Season 3 is due to premiere Sept. 20.
