Microsoft Corporation announced support today for the Uniting American Families Act, a measure authored by Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy (D) and designed to create immigration law reform for same-sex couples in the United States.

Leahy’s legislation aims to promote greater equality by allowing LGBT Americans to sponsor permanent, same-sex partners in their bid for U.S. citizenship.

In a letter noting his response to Microsoft’s endorsement of the legislation, Leahy said that he “welcomes” the company’s support.

“A core tenet of our immigration policy is preserving family unity,” Leahy explained; “yet our immigration laws discriminate against American citizens who wish to be with their loved ones.”

Leahy applauded “innovative leaders” like Microsoft Corporation, and championed a philosophy that maintains the strength of the American workforce by making it easier for employees to balance jobs with family.

“Forcing Americans to choose between their families and leaving the jobs and the country they love is unfair, and ultimately hurts the American economy,” Leahy concluded.

  1. My husband is illegal and we have 3 kids. I am the bread winner and I pay for everything now that E-Verify took affect. I am now facing mandatory deportation if we legalize because he was 3 years old when he came here on his cousin’s passport. I have no family to watch our children or help me out, we also have a child who is disabled and receives therapy. However, I have refused to apply for social security disability for him. I will have to apply eventually and it will be guaranteed on the date of his deportation I will lose my job, my independence, and ultimately I am going to end up poor again and on welfare.

I am a former conservative and with the Republicans trying to seperate my family and require divorce because he was brought her as a baby (his parents are both deceased now). I know it sounds like tough luck but this story has been repeated other than I. This will sort of policy weakens our economy and puts more on the welfare rolls.

    1. I am sorry, I forgot to mention in my article below: Congress should put a restrictions on the green card holders so they can’t get on to social programs. Social programs hinder growth and free immigration. Ask Canada, they want immigration but can’t get rid of their free healthcare for all so they keep on choosing people. Their govt is always one step behind what businesses are looking for. If it were not for their massive oil reserves and close proximity to America, God only knows where would be Canada. Social programs shld be limited only to the elderly and disabled, who deserve our attention. There shld be strong punishments for lawyers and doctors to declare someone wrongfully disabled. That problem needs to be fixed, but so does this immigration issue. WHY NOT ASK YOUR SENATORS AND CONGRESSMEN TO KILL TWO BIRDS WITH THE SAME STONE.

    2. Document all your hardship: get statements from relatives, therapists etc. One day your children will get a huge settlement for destroying their happiness.

    3. Just go back to whatever country your husband came from. I guess he would rather sit here on his lazy butt and let you be the breadwinner

    4. Do yourself and everyone else a big favor and go back where you came from. Are your kids anchor babies? Who paid for them? Who’s paying for their health care? Go back where you belong. I don’t want to hear any sob stories.

    5. Jennifer anyone stupid enough to marry an illegal alien gets what they deserve.
3 of my family members married illegal aliens and all 3 got stuck raising their children alone when their illegal Mexican husband left them all for other women.

If someone is stupid enough to marry an illegal alien then sorry you must
live with the problems. Their culture and lives are based on illegal and wrongful issues.

    6. You are a criminal and that’s all there is to it. Harboring a criminal makes you a criminal too.

I wish for nothing but Prison for you, your illegal alien criminal children and your illegal alien criminal “husband” for the rest of your pathetic, crime loving and crime practicing lives.

  2. I believe that immigration of both skilled and unskilled is good for business. And what is good for business is good for us. That is what our forefathers said when they wrote the constitution. The key in this global economy is: where will the big corporations go. And I am afraid that with huge emerging middle class of India and China, we will loose our edge to the emerging economies IF we donot have a way to attract new and existing businesses to grow here and stay here.

If we will remain the magnet to big businesses, we will keep our prosperity and our way of life as we know it. That will also keep our children and grand children employed for long times to come.

My guess is that it is time to change the immigration policy to encourage skilled workforce, but at the same time meet the demands of the businesses and keep the unskilled workforce for reasons explained above. Because COLD HARD TRUTH IS businesses need to compete globally and we got to keep’em here.

  3. Do you have an Entry Visa from the Navajo, Sioux, Apache, Cherokee or Seminole nation?

    Go back to Europe.
