The online video campaign for New York marriage equality, spearheaded by the Human Rights Council (HRC) and featuring appearances by both iconic and everyday New Yorkers on behalf of LGBT marriage rights, has topped the one million viewer mark just in time to celebrate its 51st and final video release.
Each video presented within the HRC series portrays one of the many New Yorkers — including celebrities like Larry King, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Whoopi Goldberg, Kenneth Cole and many more – who support statewide marriage equality. For the final video, HRC has created a compilation highlighting features from the previous 50 installments of the campaign and recapitulating past, present and future efforts on behalf of LGBT marriage rights in New York.
In response to the campaign’s final video release, HRC Senior New York Strategist Brian Ellner explained that marriage equality proponents throughout the state are “in the home stretch” of what he dubbed an “incredible” effort for gay and lesbian rights.
“We are grateful to all New Yorkers who lent their voices to the fight for equality,” Ellner said. “Their efforts and participation helped people realize that support for marriage equality is about basic fairness for all New Yorkers.”
