Mahogany Run Delivery, a high-end furniture moving and staging company, is hosting its first mega storage sale this weekend with proceeds going to several San Diego non-profit organizations.
The two-day event is June 17, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and July 18, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the 11,000 square foot warehouse at 9369 Dowdy Dr. in Miramar. More than 500 pieces of designer furniture, sets and accessories will be for sale for up to 75 percent off the retail price. Proceeds from the sale benefit Rady Children’s Hospital and Stepping Stone.
“We’re a furniture delivery business, and sometimes people just discard items. We also store items for retailers and designers, and occasionally things are ordered wrong,” said Wayne Back, president of MRD. “This is why we are doing a warehouse sale, we’re trying to take an asset we have and use it for a good reason. Our goal is to retire some of the company’s loss from unpaid storage bills, all while supporting worthy causes.”
The sale inventory consists of over two years of abandoned, donated and discarded new and used brand name furniture. This event is sure to appeal to designers, interior decorators, people looking to furnish their place and bargain hunters.
Back selected the non-profit organizations as beneficiaries for personal reasons. A friend told him about popular garage sales benefiting Rady Children’s Hospital, and he has a close affiliation with Stepping Stone.
“I’ve been involved with Stepping Stone for 18 years. I took advantage of their services in 1993, successfully exited their treatment program, and I’ve been sober since. I owe my life to that facility, so whatever I can do to help them, especially during this economy, I will do.” Back is also a member of the board of directors.
