Diversionary Theatre opens its 2011/2012 season with the U.S. premiere of Poster Boys, a humorous look at love and the folly of modern marketing. A co-production with Moxie Theatre, Poster Boys starts with a July 7 opening night.
Other shows this season include Marlowe’s tale of intense passion and betrayal, Edward II; Learn to Be Latina, a deliciously irreverent satire about racial identity; the 2010 Off-Broadway hit, The Pride; and Next Fall, the Tony Award-nominated story of faith and love.
“I am tremendously excited about the insightful, provocative and entertaining plays that make up the 2011/2012 Season,” said Diversionary Theatre’s Executive Director, John Alexander. “Each of these plays explores important themes of identity, faith and how and who we love in fresh and hugely entertaining ways that we are confident will get audiences talking.”
In addition to the five announced feature productions, Diversionary is also producing four special presentations of new works including the annual dance/theatre presentation, a reading of a new play, the workshop of a new musical both commissioned by Diversionary, as well as a full developmental production of a new musical to be announced soon.
Five-show subscription packages ranging from $124 to $250 are now available as well as tickets to the first show of the season, Poster Boys. Visit diversionary.org or call 619-220-0097 for details.
