Flag football championships this weekend

Games on June 11 will decide the champion of the San Diego American Flag Football League’s 2011 season. The playoff games are at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. at Doyle Park Recreation Center (8175 Regents Road in La Jolla); the championship game is at 1 p.m.

On field No. 1, True North Aztecs plays Martinis Bulls; the winner of that game plays Bourbon Street Storm. On field No. 2, Park Manor Lockdown plays Flicks United; the winner of that game plays Baja Betty’s Ball Hawks. The winners of the second games compete in the championship match.

The next day, June 12, SDAFFL hosts its end of season banquet at Eden, starting at 6 p.m.

SDAFFL seeks to promote the positive social and athletic enjoyment of American flag football. The teams also seek to foster and augment the self-respect of GLBTQA (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, questioning and allied) persons and to engender respect and understanding from the larger community.
