Flower Drum Song
San Diego Asian American Repertory Theater in residence at La Jolla Playhouse presents Flower Drum Song: A Musical Revival in Concert.
Based on Rodgers and Hammerstein’s legendary Broadway musical Flower Drum Song follows Mei-Li, who flees Mao’s Communist China and immigrates to San Francisco in the 1950s. She struggles to balance tradition and assimilation while looking for love. It also explores intergenerational conflict as Wang, the owner of an old-fashioned opera house, resists his son who wants to turn it into a nightclub in pursuit of the American dream.

Undertones
Til-Two Club presents the iconic Undertones, the punk rock band originally formed in Derry, Northern Ireland in 1975.
The original line-up of the Undertones released 13 singles and four studio albums, before disbanding in July 1983. The Undertones have since reformed, replacing lead singer Feargal Sharkey with Paul McLoone.
Music guide Allmusic stated that guitarists John and Damian O’Neill “mated infectious guitar hooks to 1960s garage, 1970s glam rock, and Feargal Sharkey’s signature vocal quaver.”

Matt Savage
Compass Family center presents world-renowned jazz pianist Matt Savage in concert. Bob Magnusson accompanies him on bass and Duncan Moore on drums.
Now 18, Matt has been connected with some of the biggest names in jazz since first being labeled a “jazz prodigy” at age 8. Diagnosed at age 3 with high-functioning autism, Matt is considered a savant. He has performed with Chick Corea, the Ellington All Stars and Chaka Khan among others.

Mainly Mozart Festival
Mainly Mozart brings pianists Misha and Cipa Dichter to San Diego as part of the Mainly Mozart Festival. Amongst other pieces the program features Mozart’s Fantasia for Musical Clockwork in F minor for two pianos and Mozart’s Sonata in C for two pianos.

Meredith Willson’s masterpiece The Music Man set a new standard of how musicals tell stories, and in the process gave us a classic love story and one of the most iconic American characters of all time in the lovable rake Harold Hill.
