This Sunday, June 5 the Dodge Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon and 1/2 Marathon come to San Diego.
More than 30,000 runners and walkers to San Diego are competing in this year’s sold out race. To energize the competitors, more than 60 bands are performing on 40 stages throughout the course. San Diego residents are encouraged to visit the free Health and Fitness Expo at the San Diego Convention Center, volunteer during race weekend and/or line the course to cheer runners.
The Health and Fitness Expo is Friday, June 3 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, June 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Expo has more than 60 exhibitors showcasing the latest in running gear, sports apparel, health and nutritional information and much more. Admission to the Expo is free; however, the San Diego Convention Center charges $10 for parking.
The city will be subject to road closures. Most road closures and detours will be in effect between 5 a.m. and 2 p.m. At 5 a.m., police and event personnel start a soft closure along the course. The races begin at 6:15 a.m. and streets will reopen on a rolling basis as soon as the last participant has passed and all course support materials have been removed.
