Hello, gorgeous!

Nicholas Moede and his parents at the Wave House

I guess this is it. Summer is here! I was out this past week and places were packed and a lot of familiar faces that I haven’t seen in a while were back out.

Prides

Pride is also right around the corner and the lineup for Pride is out. Saturday, I will be putting together a San Diego Drag Show Review on the main stage, followed by Margaret Cho and Kristine W. On Sunday, they will have Frenchie Davis and Salt-N-Pepa at the main stage. Looks like it will be a fun festival this year.

June 11 is Los Angeles Pride. Their entertainment lineup also includes Margaret Cho, Mya and Macy Gray.

Summer is ours

Based on the pictures I saw and what I hear from friends, the Reclaim Summer party at the Wave House was a hit. We showed all the straight boys and girls how to party. I saw pictures of boys wrestling on the sand. Hot!

Speaking of summer, I wrote about a diet that I was trying out. So far it’s working really well. I haven’t been this light in years!

I didn’t join the Flag Football League, but I did go back to the Different Strokes Swim Team (DSST). Girly girl! I thought I was going to drown! After 30 minutes, I was done. I was out of breath and my legs were like Jell-O, but it was all worth it when I saw the hotties coming out of the pool.

Here are some of my favorite places where you will most likely find me this summer.

Black’s Beach is always a good option for a summer day. Great exercise hiking that hill up and down.

Call me white trash, but I love going to Knott’s Soak City water park in Chula Vista. You can get a season pass valid at all three locations (San Diego, Orange County and Palm Springs) for only $54.99.

Cleve Jones and Allan at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Trevor Project center in San Francisco.

Mo’s is always a good choice to end your afternoon before your disco nap. Brunch at Baja Betty’s is always good to get you jump-started on Sundays.

San Francisco

My trip to San Francisco was great. Really busy, but a lot of fun. As soon as we landed – with three hours of sleep – Stuart Milk, Nicole and I went straight to a Harvey Milk event at a school in The Castro. From there, we walked to Harvey’s old camera shop, which is now a Trevor Project call center.

Later, we went to a drag makeover for The Imperial Court of San Francisco. The funny thing was when we finally realized that this drag pageant took place at a church. I have pictures to prove it. Even better, one of the contestants was the minister! Only in SF could this happen.

I was finally able to take a break and go out to Badlands in The Castro. I got there at 1 a.m. and there was still a huge line out the door, even with a cover. Once I got in, I felt like I was at an outlet mall. Everything was on special – the men and the booze! A couple of Cosmopolitans later, I was feeling really pretty and thought I had something in the bag, but somewhere I just lost it.

I was up at 9 a.m. the next morning to head over to The Castro again for the ribbon cutting ceremony of the Trevor Project center. Being at the camera store with Anne Kronenberg, Stuart Milk, Cleve Jones, Dustin Lance Black and others was just mind-blowing. We finished the day at a Trevor Project party.

With all these stars there I had no choice but to be inappropriate in order to be noticed. I decided to wear the tightest pair of Rufskin jeans and vest I had in my closet. When I walked into this amazing 55th floor condo, I could see heads turning and whispers. I wasn’t sure if they wanted to toss me out of the window or toss me in the bedroom down the hallway but my mission was accomplished. I sure didn’t pass unnoticed.

Fun and relaxation

I’ve been to a bunch of casinos in the area, but there’s a specific one that I love. Harrah’s Rincon Hotel and Casino in Valley Center is just 45 minutes away and it has an incredible pool area. I was there a couple years ago when they had a Pitbull concert by the pool. I had a blast.

This past week I went there for the day to relax and get away. Their spa is great and very gay friendly. I had a massage and a full body scrub.

The food is also pretty good. It’s just so nice to walk in at 11 p.m. and have dinner.

I was addicted to two slot machines: Sex and the City and Wheel of Fortune. The only bad thing is the number of old ladies that are also addicted to the Sex and the City machine. I was about to knock them down for monopolizing the machines.
