Dave Schlessinger, Chicago native and executive producer of a new, gay-oriented reality show, descended upon Chicago’s Boystown neighborhood this weekend in search of “big personalities” to star in the series.
Schlessinger owns the company ChiTown Entertainment and has produced a number of high-profile local concert events in the past. He arrived in his hometown on Friday alongside producers from Logo’s A-List and The Real World for a whirlwind of casting events at Scarlet, a popular Chicago gay bar. According to ChicagoPride.com, the city’s LGBT community flocked to Boystown for the casting, which began on Friday with a pre-party and launched into an all-day casting search on Saturday.
With regards to the show, Schlessinger explained, “our goal is to highlight the beauty, cultural, and artistic qualities of Boystown along with some of the fun, crazy, and wild people that live and play in it.”
The working title of the show is also “Boystown,” a name synonymous with the first officially recognized gay village community in the country.
