Digital Spy reports today that Christopher Meloni, star of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, speaks out for gay rights in the latest public service announcement from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC).
In the new HRC video, Meloni shares his support for marriage reforms in the state of New York that would allow gay and lesbian New Yorkers to legally marry.
Meloni states, “I believe in love, in family and in fairness. That’s why I’m a New Yorker for marriage equality.”
He goes on to explain how “fives tates and the District of Columbia have marriage equality,” and that “it’s time for New York to lead again. Join me in supporting New Yorkers for marriage equality.
Meloni is the latest in a string of celebrities to appear in HRC videos promoting LGBT rights. Past spokesmen include Moby, Ethan Hawke, Mark Ruffalo, Joan Rivers and Lucy Liu.
