Manwich YouTube video by ConAgra Foods

There are new reputed Manwich commercials that are loaded on Youtube that are playing upon gay stereotypes.  In each commercial a man is holding a Manwich while making statements that would be considered feminine.  Before the man can finish his statement, the Manwich is slapped out of his hand and into his face.  The voiceover and text on screen then say “Its called a Manwich.”

The end of the commercial then shows a Manwich can with big muscular cartoon arms.  Already some LGBT activists are complaining and calling for ConAgra Foods to verify that the commercials are actually produced by them, and if they are, to immediately issue an apology to the LGBT community.

ConAgra Foods responded to the videos by issuing the following statement.

“Thank you for contacting ConAgra Foods. The Manwich videos posted on YouTube were not meant to offend and we apologize if anyone was offended. We pulled the videos down as soon as we became aware of them,” wrote Jeff Mochal Director of Communications & External Relations for ConAgra Foods.

Before the videos were pulled by ConAgra, LGBT Weekly was able to find a source that saved the videos. Watch the commercials below.

  1. I actually interpreted these videos to be making fun of women (thus the MAN-wich), not gay men. And as a woman, I’m not offended. You can’t take life (and commercials) so seriously; just laugh.
