The San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus will take the stage this weekend at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center’s David and Dorthea Garfield Theater in La Jolla for “friend me,” a concert extravaganza featuring popular selections and the West Coast Premiere of the theatrical musical “Through a Glass, Darkly.”

Highlights from the first half of the program include hits like “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay, “Stand Up For Love” by Destiny’s Child” and “Rehab” by Amy Winehouse. The second act will transition to “Through a Glass, Darkly,” the moody, musical telling of a gay man’s struggle with addiction and its effect on his partner and friends.  This 45-minute second act is at once moving and edgy, powerful and beautiful. (Please note, however, that the performance contains adult content and strong language and may not be suitable for young children).

“friend me” runs Saturday, April 9 at 8 pm and Sunday, April 10 at 2 pm. Tickets are available from members of the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus, online at sdgmc.org or at 1-877-296-SONG. Prices range from $26-$40.
