While some Joan Crawford fans might be appalled that someone would dare remake Mildred Pierce, the classic 1945 melodrama for which Crawford won her Oscar, when the remake is a total revision directed by the visionary gay director Todd Haynes and starring Kate Winslet, the greatest actress of her generation, I’ve just got to say, “Get over it.” Ambition, rivalry, sex and struggle! It’s going to be juicy, and with Haynes and Winslet, sublime.
Parts one and two of the miniseries premiered on Sunday, March 27, and parts three and four air on April 3.
