Marriage Rights Advocate, Legal Expert to Speak at California Western School of Law

USC law professor David B. Cruz is scheduled to give a presentation on current legal issues surrounding constitutional law, LGBT marriage rights and sex & gender law on Thursday, March 17 at California Western School of Law.

The presentation is an entry in the school’s Diversity Speaker Series, a 2009 initiative aimed at developing and sharing multiracial perspectives on pertinent legal topics.

Cruz teaches at USC and specializes in discrimination law and LGBT rights. He has been represented in amicus curiae briefs in a number of high-profile discrimination cases, including Lawrence vs. Texas and initial challenges to Proposition 8. Cruz has also served as chair of the Association of American Law Schools Section on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Issues and as co-president of the International Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans and Intersex Law Association.

California Western welcomes to public to Cruz’s upcoming lecture. The presentation will take place tomorrow on the law school campus at 12 pm.  RSVP is required, and those wishing to attend can email diversity@cwsl.edu for confirmation.
