A 52-second video entitled “Taco Shop Drag Queen Tranny Brawl” has gone viral.
The brief video, shot around 2:10 am on March 2 at La Fuente Mexican Grill and Seafood on University Avenue, features several scantily sequin-clad men kicking and hitting one another in a raucous brawl.
Since hitting the web, the YouTube video has gotten over 300,000 hits and gained attention everywhere from here in San Diego to locations as far flung as Australia.
In response to the video’s high internet profile, patrons who witnessed the fight have offered some additional comments. One caller told police that over 20 people became involved in the scuffle – but according to Lt. Andra Brown, the crowd had dispersed by the time police arrived on the scene and no report was taken.
Will the “Tranny Brawl” video help or hinder business at Hillcrest’s La Fuente? One employee noted that customers have come flocking since the video went viral, and laughingly concluded that the notoriety “might be good and it might be bad.”
