Dr. Delores A. Jacobs of the San Diego LGBT Community Center announced today that the Center’s current Director of Public Affairs, Carlos Marquez, would step down in order to accept the position of executive director at Honor Fund.
Honor Fund is a L.A.-based non-profit that seeks to facilitate dialogue and collaboration between Latino and LGBT communities. Marquez will officially begin work at Honor Fund as of April 8, 2011.
Jacobs expressed gratitude for Marquez’s service to the San Diego LGBT Community Center and wished him well in his new capacity at Honor Fund. “We are so proud of Carlos,” Jacobs said, “and [we] are certain he will be a valuable asset to the Los Angeles community.”
Marquez also issued a statement, explaining his gratitude for what he described as “the support, opportunity and education” he received from The Center. “I look forward to this new challenge and to continuing the work of coalition building,” he said.
