Navy Training Sheds Light on Recent Repeal of DADT

Outserve, an organization made up of LGBT members of the United States Armed Services, has recently announced that the Navy will be the first of the branches to implement Tier 3 Training, also known as General Population Training. The training centers on the recent repeal of the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (DADT) policy, and how this will affect individuals within the U.S. military.

Tier 3 Training is an informative program that focuses on the DADT policy, as well as the significance to demonstrate leadership, professionalism, discipline, and respect in order to transition into the recent change most smoothly. Through instructive pamphlets and presentations, the training concentrates on the changes that must be exhibited within individual behavior as well as other various factors due to the repeal of the DADT policy.

The training, which began February 28th, will take place over the next two months. Navy mobile training teams will travel throughout 18 different bases in order to train individuals over the course of the program. Members can now be seen in attendance of the training program in Norfolk, Va.

Navy core values and the standard codes of conduct will be addressed in regards to the repeal. The purpose of the training is to provide information for the individuals within the military in a professional and educational manner.
