Tennis Federation hosts matches throughout the year

The San Diego Tennis Federation is sharing some love as it begins the Spring Team Tennis tournament this weekend.

Started 28 years ago, the SDTF is one of the oldest organized gay and lesbian tennis clubs in the nation, boasts more than 200 members and includes activities for all skill levels.

“It’s a way for members of the gay and lesbian community in San Diego to meet others who are interested in playing tennis, both on a social level and on a competitive level,” said SDTF President, Allen Sanchez.

Team Tennis is a weekly competition that includes singles and doubles pro sets. The season, which starts Feb. 6, is already closed and not accepting new players. However, SDTF has other on-going events for current and prospective members, including Friday night matches, clinics every other Saturday, Sunday Promiscuous Doubles (where you change partners each game) and a singles ladder. The Federation also hosts a single league, doubles league, Fall Team Tennis and their annual San Diego Open.

Membership is $40 per year. For more information, log on to sdtf.org.
