Gay priest fired after propositioning gay men

London – A gay priest, who sexually propositioned a gay couple who were staying with him, has been fired for “inappropriate” conduct.

The London Evening Standard reported that the Reverend David Gilmore, rector of St Anne’s Anglican Church in Soho London, was found guilty of “conduct unbecoming or inappropriate to the office and work of a clerk in Holy Orders.”

Reverend Gilmore had offered to let the two servicemembers stay at the rectory while they attended a gay and lesbian Armed Forces conference in December 2009. During the night, Gilmore allegedly entered the couple’s bedroom completely naked when he knew the couple was having sex. He had also asked them to sleep in his bed.

The couple left early in the morning and made written complaints about his behavior.

The Diocese of London said in a statement that Mr. Gilmore has been barred from working as a priest for two years.
